Surrey Police Service SPS Increase Coverage Into South Surrey
On November 25 Surrey Police Service (SPS) takes over the entire South Surrey area.
SPS already replaced the RCMP on the west side of South Surrey in July, and on Nov. 25 at 6 a.m., the east side will officially switch over too. This means all police calls in South Surrey will now be handled directly by SPS. Full citywide SPS transition expected by 2026–27.
SPS officials say the change will be smooth, with no differences in how residents report emergencies or get help. RCMP vehicles and equipment continue to be transferred to SPS as the Mounties slowly phase out of city policing. The transition will continue across the city, with Cloverdale and Guildford switching to SPS in the coming years.

Prime Time Visit
Prime Minister MARK CARNEY paid a visit to our City by the Sea yesterday. CARNEY and local MP ERNIE KLASSEN made the rounds locally stopping by White Rock city hall to visit Mayor KNIGHT then it was off to a local coffee shop to check in with the local Liberal Party Riding Members.
The afternoon wrapped up with a quick walkabout along the waterfront and a visit to Canada's Longest Pier. The newly released federal budget has earmarked restoration of our iconic pier as a priority. Thought the budget has not yet been passed, CARNEY'S visit bode well for federal money coming to our community.
